Who Gets To Be Smart with Bri Lee

Bri Lee has written her third book, a follow up to her hard-hitting memoir Eggshell Skull and her  book Beauty. In Who Gets To Be Smart, Bri interrogates the institutions and educational systems we have set up in Australia, and how they exacerbate inequality and promote socio-economic inequality across generations.

Who gets to be smart is a forensic and hard-hitting exploration of knowledge, power and privilege. Interrogating the adage, 'knowledge is power', and calling institutional prejudice to account, Bri once again dives into her own privilege and presumptions to bring us the stark and confronting results. Far from offering any 'equality of opportunity', Australia's education system exacerbates social stratification.

Join us on 7 July at 3:30 pm AEST to hear from Bri Lee in conversation with Dr Janet Smith about the astonishing findings in her latest piece of work, the questions it raises, and ultimately, who is allowed to be smart in Australia. Book now.

‘Thoughtful, surprising and exquisitely written, Bri Lee once again challenges us to confront the structures that shape, and restrict, our understanding of the world.’ – Madison Connaughton, Editor, The Saturday Paper.
