MEMBERSHIP FAQ'S

WHAT IS CONNECT? DO I HAVE TO BE A FEMALE LEADER TO JOIN?


Based on a simple truth, that women still represent an enormously under-utilised national resource, Women & Leadership Australia (WLA) is dedicated to developing female leaders and supporting the increased presence of women in business and community leadership roles. We believe that supporting a greater percentage of women to step up into leadership across all vocations and industries will have tremendous cultural and economic benefits. ​

Operating in all states and territories, the WLA initiative comprises a range of high-quality professional development courses, advisory services, networking channels, and on-going research. With over fifteen years of experience in leadership and gender equity, we are ideally positioned to respond to the needs of the contemporary female leader.

Connect is a dedicated space for connection, learning, discussion, contribution, consideration and growth, we offer opportunities for female leaders to begin to realise their potential.

You do not necessarily have to be a leader to join the community. You could be in your first job or be interested in leadership theory. We invite emerging, middle to senior and executive women to join Connect.




WHICH MEMBERSHIP SHOULD I CHOOSE?


All of the membership types give you access to the entire website and all members/connectors will receive a weekly newsletter. The Connect Essential pack gives you access to the following features: Personal profile Weekly newsletter Discussion forums Leadership content library Networking meet-ups Live masterclass Mentoring and coaching opportunities Recommended content Discounts on events Connect Plus gives you access to extra leadership training with our Virtual Workshop Series, along with the Essential pack features. Connect Premium members receive the Virtual Workshop Series, 3 x 60-minute Executive Online Coaching sessions along with the Essential pack features.




CAN I FIND A MENTOR OR COACH WITH MY MEMBERSHIP?


Connect members are a diverse and engaged mix of women from all leadership levels and sectors across Australia. We have provided a great space for members to connect with a peer coach, mentor or mentee. Peer coaching and mentoring can have a positive impact not only on individuals but also on the organisation, by increasing employee engagement and contributing to a positive culture. It can also serve a strategic purpose when linked to a talent strategy, workforce planning, and supporting organizational goals. The process that has been designed for Connect allows members to tap into a strong and connected network, either as a peer coach, peer coachee, mentor or mentee. Connect is the conduit for your peer coaching or mentoring journey. The information we provide in the peer coaching and mentoring section helps members find a partner and commence their peer coaching and mentoring journey.




CAN MEN BECOME MEMBERS?


Connect is an exclusive space for women and those who identify as trans or non-binary. We understand from research that it is important for women to have a safe space where they can connect about their leadership journeys. In the future, we do plan on creating a space for both men and women - as we know how important both sexes are to the progression of gender equity. Currently, this is space is for women, trans and non-binary people.




WHAT ARE THE CODES I NEED TO GET MY DISCOUNTS?


Your code for discounts and free events can be found in your welcome email. Please email connect@wla.edu.au if you have trouble accessing them.




I GOT CHARGED THE NON-MEMBER PRICE FOR AN EVENT, WHAT SHOULD I DO?


If you’ve already purchased your ticket and realised you’ve been overcharged, we’re more than happy to refund the difference if your membership is still valid. Please email connect@wla.edu.au as soon as you realise and we will resolve the issue.




I CAN'T REMEMBER MY LOGIN DETAILS/I NEED TO RESET MY PASSWORD, WHAT SHOULD I DO?


Click the “MEMBERS LOG IN” button on the top right of your screen. You will then be taken to this screen: Click on " ALREADY A MEMBER ? LOG IN" . The following screen will appear: Click on the Forgot Password option and follow the prompts to reset your password. You’ll then receive an email to create your new password.




HOW CAN I UPDATE MY CREDIT CARD DETAILS?


Simply by contacting us via email connect@wla.edu.au




I NOTICED THAT MY MEMBERSHIP IS SET UP TO AUTO-RENEW, HOW CAN I CHANGE THIS?


We understand that circumstances change. To switch off auto-renew on your account contact us connect@wla.edu.au.




HOW CAN I PARTNER WITH CONNECT?


There are a number of ways you can partner with WLA Connect. Please visit the Partner With Us page or email connect@wla.edu.au for more information.




HOW CAN WLA CONNECT PROMOTE MYSELF, MY SMALL BUSINESS OR MY ORGANISATION?


By becoming a member you have the opportunity to be spotlighted in the Movers and Shakers section. This allows you to promote yourself and your brand. If you are an Essential, Plus or Premium member, simply visit the Movers and Shakers page and follow the links or you can contact us connect@wla.edu.au.




I HAVE CHANGED MY MIND, HOW DO I CANCEL MY MEMBERSHIP?


As much as we do not want to see you go, we do understand that things happen. All of the membership options have a cooling off period of 30 days, so if you are within this timeframe then you can cancel without charge. If you are outside of this cooling off period then we ask that you email us to cancel your membership connect@wla.edu.au. We have a strict No Refund policy after the 30 day cooling off period.




WHERE CAN I LEAVE FEEDBACK ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE?


We encourage you to get in contact with us regarding any experiences you may have using the Connect platform. Here are some ways to give us feedback:

  • Message us via the Members Chat pop up in the bottom right of your screen. This is monitored Monday to Friday between 9 am and 5 pm AEST.




HOW DO I UPDATE MY PROFILE SETTINGS AND NOTIFICATIONS?


Go to the Members' Profiles Page. Click on Your Profile. This is a place where you can add a photo and a paragraph or two about yourself. You will notice there is a menu on the left. You can see where you have made blog comments, blog likes, events you have registered for, who you are following, your account details, notifications and settings. If you want to update your notifications, click on the link and choose how you want to be notified.




HOW DO I SET MY PROFILE AS PRIVATE?


To set your profile to private, simply click on your Profile in the Members' Profiles page. You will see three vertical dots to the right of your profile picture, please click on this and follow the prompts to set your profile to private.




I CAN SEE THE SIGN UP FORM BUT I AM STILL HAVING TROUBLE SIGNING UP/JOINING?


Here are some more troubleshooting tips:

  • If you find that you are receiving a message to confirm your email, it may be that you have used the email you are joiing with previously on Connect. If you would like to proceed with that email address, continue through the confirmation process for your email and when you return to the site, go to the JOIN NOW Button and choose the plan, it will then take you to the payment form.
  • If you are having trouble scrolling through the questions on the SIgn Up form, try not to use your TAB key and use your up and down arrow on your keyboard after clicking the box.

I WAS GIVEN A LINK TO JOIN WLA CONNECT BUT IT DOSEN'T WORK?


There may be many reasons why the link you have been given is not working. We know that many people have signed up to the site so the link is working for most people. The Sign Up form to join WLA Connect is in a lightbox that will appear on your screen after you click Join and Sign Up. It may be that this lightbox does not appear for you and you see a blank screen. Here is a list of some ways to troubleshoot the issue:

  • Try typing in the website link into your browser www.wlaconnect.com.au/home-join
  • Try using a different browser. We know that the link is working on Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Chrome but one of your browsers may not be updated or not working efficiently. We do know tht people are having problems with Microsoft Internet Explorer, so if you are using this browser, please use another or update to Microsoft Edge if you can.
  • Some workplaces have very strict firewalls and will not allow you to see the Lightbox or the site. Try using your personal computer or device when you are at home, to work around this
  • Try signing up on your personal device, a phone or a tablet
  • Your Privacy and Security settings on your browser may not be accepting Cookies. You can clear your Cache if this happens or check your setting for pop ups on your browser.

I DID NOT GET MY CONFIRMATION EMAIL?


It may be that your confirmation email has ended up in your Junk Folder or Spam folder. Have a look in that folder and make sure you click on the link that says it is "Not Junk or Spam". This should hopefully move the email into your inbox. It could be that you did not finish the sign up process, please email us via connect@wla.edu.au to see if it came through on our end.




I AM A MEMBER AND I AM TRYING TO LOG IN, BUT I CANNOT FIND THE LOG IN BUTTON?


Go to the Home Page : www.wlaconnect.com.au In the top right hand corner there is a "Members Log In" link. Click on this link. This box will appear: Click on this link. If you are not seeing this link, try using a different browser. We know that this link does not appear with Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer. Chrome is the best browser to use for this. A box will appear that allows you to login.

IS IT A BROWSER ISSUE?


Are you having problems viewing some pages on the site? It may be the browser that you are using ( the software that lets you serach the internet). We know that Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer are not great when it comes to seeing all of the features of the site, so try using Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.




THE NEWSLETTER LINKS ARE NOT WORKING?


Some of you may be experiencing issues with links from the newsltters going to blank pages or takeing you to a page asking you to join, when you are already a member.

We are aware of this issue and we are currently working on it with the website provider.

In the meantime, here are some workarounds so you can view the content:

  • Make sure you open the links in Chrome

  • You can also view these articles and features in the WLA connect site
    The links are the issue mainly

  • Try clearing your cache on your browser

  • Also try clicking on the link a couple more times, it will eventually come up

We are very sorry about this issue and please do know that we are working on it as a priority.




HOW DO I UPDATE MY EMAIL ADDRESS?


Unfortunatley, your email address identifies you as the member and is the only link to giving you access to the entire site and the plan you have chosen. You are unable to change your email address. If this is an issue for you please contact connect@wla.edu.au and we can arrange to delete your old account and create a new one manually, with a differentemail address.





 

EVENT FAQ'S

WHAT ARE MEET UPS?


We always have a calendar of meet-ups available at the “Connect Events “tab. Meet-ups are your opportunity to network and meet other members and non-members. Meet-ups are held all over the country and usually include a fireside chat with a special guest. You need to RSVP for these events as spaces are limited. It is a great opportunity to connect with other connectors and alumni.




CAN I SHARE MY CONNECT EVENT TICKET WITH ANOTHER PERSON?


No. Tickets are issued to an individual and are not transferable between events, sessions and days.




DO I HAVE TO PAY UP FRONT WHEN I BOOK ONLINE / CAN I RECEIVE AN INVOICE?


Most of our events require upfront payment when booking. Some of our larger events can be paid via invoice, at the discretion of our events team.




I AM A BREASTFEEDING MOTHER; CAN I BRING MY BABY WITH ME TO AN EVENT?


Yes! Please contact us beforehand if you require access to refrigeration as this can be arranged with the venue. We can also arrange a space for expressing.




IS THERE ANY PRE-READING / PRE-EVENT TASKS REQUIRED FOR EVENTS?


If there are any pre-reading or pre-event tasks which need to be completed prior to the event, you will receive an email from us detailing what is required.




ARE THE WLA EVENTS FOR WOMEN ONLY?


No! We encourage everyone who is interested in leadership and gender equality to attend our events.




HOW CAN I LET YOU KNOW ABOUT MY ACCESS REQUIREMENTS FOR EVENTS?


If you are attending a WLA Connect event, please email connect@wla.edu.au to let us know any access requirements you have.

If you are attending a public WLA event, please contact events@wla.edu.au.




WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE FOR EVENTS / AM I REQUIRED TO WEAR MY UNIFORM?


Delegates at our leadership and meet up events are usually dressed in business/smart casual attire. You are also welcome to wear your uniform if you prefer.




WHAT SHOULD I BRING WITH ME TO EVENTS?


We will supply pens, note pads, workbooks, nametags and anything else you need. Many delegates choose to bring business cards as well.




WHERE CAN I GET INVOLVED ON SOCIAL MEDIA?


Women & Leadership Australia are active on: Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Instagram You can search for us and 'like' or 'follow' us to receive regular updates. Events will have a hashtag that you can use to connect with your fellow attendees online, and these hashtags will be emailed to you before the event.
